Mr. Ed’s Keeneland on (about) $100 a Day for races on Sunday 4/24

Editor’s note: Just like he did during the 40-day Saratoga meet last summer, Ed Sehon (aka Mr. Ed) will provide VSiN readers with daily picks during the 15-day Keeneland meet that opened last Friday and runs through Friday, April 29. Sehon’s selections are meant to give an overview of how to attack each day’s card through the use of Best Bets on individual horses as well as multi-race wagers (which are meant to give a more comprehensive look at the card, so feel free to pick-and-choose from the selections in those races and mix with your own handicapping). He generally tries to do it on a bankroll of (about) $100 a day, though will sometimes go higher on bigger days like he did on Blue Grass Stakes Day and this Saturday. On Saturday, Mr. Ed only cashed for $19 out of $124 in wagers. Here’s his plays for Sunday as he tries to get back on the positive side of the ledger:

    Races Nos. 1-2 (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT)

    DAILY DOUBLE
In Race 1, I like first-time starter #7 R You Awake (6-1 morning line). “Michael Maker barn, somewhat cool since Saratoga, beginning to heat up. Jockey Luis Saez sharp.” In Race 2, I like #11 Stavanger (7-2). “Consistent sort, drops in for score.” Are you feelin’ lucky? Mr. Ed is. Wager $5 Daily Double 7/11.”

    Race No. 3 (2:04 p.m. ET/11:04 a.m. PT)

My BEST BET is #4 Jarreau (5-2 morning line). “Tyler Gaffalione climbs aboard son of Pioneerof the Nile for Michael Maker in a pricey allowance marathon. Addition of blinkers indicates desire to be closer to pace. Ran well in past over oval. He’s ready to sing.
Wager: $10 to Win and Place.”

    Race No. 4 (2:36 p.m. ET/11:36 a.m. PT)

Mr. Ed likes three in starter allowance at 1 1/16-mile on main track. “#2 Can’t Hide From Me (6-1 morning line) with Geraldo Corrales, #5 Suggested (6-1) stretching out and #8 Exulting (9-5) for sharp Maker-Gaffalione combo. Wager: $2 Exacta Box of 2,5,8.”

    Race No. 5 (3:08 p.m. ET/12:08 p.m. PT)

I like #8 Poca Mucha (5-1 morning line). “Bill Mott takes over training of underachieving daughter of Tourist. A pair of solid works, addition of Joel Rosario and return to turf can put gal in position to score. Wager: $5 Win and Place, and $2 exacta Box of 8 with 1,5,9.”

    Race Nos. 6-9 (3:40 p.m. ET/12:40 p.m. PT)

Mr. Ed likes the following Pick 4 (cost $54)
    Race 6: 1,2,7
    Race 7: 1,2,8,12
    Race 8: 2,7,11
    Race 9: 2,6,9

    TOTAL WAGERS ON SUNDAY: $113

    TOTAL WAGERS THROUGH SATURDAY: $1,078
    TOTAL MONEY CASHED: $1,034.10
    NET LOSS: $43.90
