2023 World Series Odds: Dodgers, Astros lined as the favorites

    0

Bookmakers already had 2023 World Series odds up before the Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies, but it seems more appropriate to look ahead now that the 2022 version is in the record books.

The reigning champions are not the favorites, though the Astros do have the shortest price of any American League team at +600 per DraftKings Sportsbook. It is the Los Angeles Dodgers at +550 that have the top spot. Those were the two best teams in baseball from a regular season standpoint and there aren’t going to be a lot of notable personnel losses for those ballclubs, as their rosters are pretty much in tact heading into next season.

The NL East champion Atlanta Braves are +800 to run back their 2021 World Series championship, while the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees represent the AL East at +1000. The New York Mets, who are already spending big money with a five-year, $102 million deal to closer Edwin Diaz, are next at +1200.

The reigning NL champion Philadelphia Phillies are +1500, just below the team they beat in the NLCS, as the San Diego Padres are +1400. The Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox are priced at +1900 after the M’s had a terrific season and the Sox did not.

Every other team is at least +2200 or higher, including the St. Louis Cardinals (+2200), Tampa Bay Rays (+2500) and Cleveland Guardians (+4000) with the highest prices of the past season’s playoff participants.

With plenty of trades and signings to come during the offseason, the odds will be moving around and we’ll keep an eye on the biggest movers and the biggest headlines throughout the offseason at VSiN.
