Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals:

The Milwaukee Brewers wrap up their road series in St. Louis against the Cardinals on Thursday, looking to extend their lead in the National League Central while also giving their ace starting pitcher some confidence.

Freddy Peralta gets the start for the Brewers. Peralta has allowed at least four runs in four of his past seven starts with an ERA of 4.00 overall this season.

While Perlata’s ERA drops to 3.66 on the road, he owns a 4.17 fielding independent with 1.4 home runs and 3.3 walks allowed per nine innings, and his 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings are the second-fewest of his career.

Fortunately for Peralta, he’s backed by a Brewers bullpen that leads the National League with a 3.26 ERA entering Wednesday, but since July, they have a 3.53 bullpen ERA, which ranks ninth in the league.

With Miles Mikolas getting the start on the mound for St. Louis, the Cardinals will likely be utilizing their bullpen quite a bit on Thursday as well. They are ninth in season-long ERA with a 3.65 ERA, but they are 16th in ERA since July 1 with a 3.82 ERA.

For the season, Mikolas has a 5.41 ERA with at least three runs allowed in four straight starts and is pitching to a lot of contact with just 6.3 strikeouts per nine innings.

Mikolas has struggled the most at Busch Stadium, posting a 6.53 ERA with 1.8 home runs per nine innings allowed, compared to a 4.54 road ERA with less than one home run allowed per nine innings.

With the Brewers eighth in the league in road scoring with nearly 4.9 runs per game and both starting pitchers having such big struggles this season, this series will wrap up with a bang on Thursday.

MLB Pick: Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals Over 7.5 (mix of 7.5 and 8 in the market, still like the over at 8)
