Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins Prediction:

The Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals are both at the bottom of the National League East and completely out of the playoff picture. Both look to build momentum going into 2025. They face off against each other in Miami on Tuesday.

Patrick Corbin gets the start for the Nationals. Corbin enters having allowed three total runs across his past three starts, though overall for the season has been another disappointment. He posts a 5.50 ERA with an opponents batting average of .299. On the road, Corbin’s ERA jumps to 6.52

Though the Marlins are 29th in the league in run production with 3.8 runs per game, the offense has been far better at home with over 4.1 runs per game in Miami compared to 3.4 runs per game away from home.

The Nationals have had their share of struggles at the plate. Their 4.2 runs per game ranks 22nd in the league and will look to bust out against Marlins starting pitcher Max Meyer.

Meyer enters with a 5.44 ERA and a weakness of allowing too much hard contact. Opponents are hitting 2.1 home runs per nine innings. But Meyer faces a Nationals lineup that has hit the fewest road home runs of any team in the league at 0.7 per game.

Both bullpens enter Tuesday in similar standing. The 4.10 ERA of the Marlins bullpen ranks 22nd in the league and the Nationals 4.16 ERA ranks 23rd.

Corbin’s road struggles, coupled with Washington’s lack of power, means the Nationals will drop to 9-19 in games started by Corbin this season.
