NFL preseason quarterback depth charts
August is mostly about the backup quarterbacks. It’s no secret the NFL preseason is a time to forget about the star and know more about his supporting cast.
Lamar Jackson is listed on the depth chart as Baltimore’s starter, but the play of backups Tyler Huntley, Josh Johnson and Anthony Brown will be more important to the Ravens extending their 23-game preseason win streak.
Aaron Rodgers has not played in the preseason since 2018 with Green Bay, and the Jets’ new quarterback might not appear in a game this month, either. Bengals starter Joe Burrow will sit out the preseason with a calf injury.
There are exceptions, of course, and Denver coach Sean Payton is making one. Payton said quarterback Russell Wilson and the Broncos’ starters will play in the team’s first preseason game this week.
Carson Wentz, the top veteran free-agent quarterback in the league, could get signed soon. Here is how the team depth charts look going into the first full week of the preseason schedule:
