If you are betting on the NFL, college football, the NBA or college basketball most times I will ask questions about a team’s record as a favorite and underdog. More specifically, I will also want to know how they fare as a Home Favorite and Underdog or Road Favorite and Underdog. For whatever the reason, most people I encounter don’t ask those questions when it comes to betting on the NHL. I am here to tell you that if you don’t, it’s time to start asking those questions. Here is why. The Winnipeg Jets are a respectable 10-7 on the road but they are 10-2 as the road favorite and 2-5 as the road underdog. The Calgary Flames are 11-7 at home. But when you break it down, they are 5-1 as the home favorite but 6-6 as a home underdog. There are also examples of where teams like the Dallas Stars are 12-4 as the home favorite but just 5-5 as the road favorite. Here’s a breakdown of all 32 NHL team’s home and road betting splits.
