NHL Predictions – Expert Picks on Saturday, January 11:

    Here are tonight’s NHL predictions:

Dallas Stars (-220, 6) at Montreal Canadiens

    7 p.m. ET

The Montreal Canadiens are on quite a roll, winners of three straight, six of seven, and nine of their last 11 games. The Canadiens have been knocking off some of the league’s best with wins over Washington, Vegas, Colorado, Florida and Tampa. Tonight’s opposition, the Dallas Stars, own the NHL’s ninth-best record and are on a six-game win streak of their own and have won their last five trips to Montreal and have scored four goals or more in six of their last seven wins over the Habs.

Recently recalled Jakub Dobes got the start and win last night for Montreal against the Washington Capitals, improving to (3-0), so Samuel Montembeault gets the start between the pipes. Montembeault is (2-2) lifetime against the Stars. Jake Oettinger will get the call for Dallas. Oettinger is (4-1) lifetime against the Canadiens. Montembeault has given up four or more goals in three of his last five starts. The Stars have scored four goals or more in five of their last six wins.

The Stars Matt Duchesne has scored four goals in six games against Montembeault. Jason Robertson has six points in six games versus the Canadiens and three assists in his last two games overall.

If Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki continue to light the lamp and we get good prices on their goal props, I can’t pass them up. Caufiled has goals in five straight. Suzuki has goals in back-to-back. Lane Hutson has assists in three straight games.

NHL Predictions: Cole Caufield anytime goal (+200) – ¼ unit
Nick Suzuki anytime goal (+225) – ¼ unit
    Lane Hutson Over ½ assist (+110) – ¼ unit
Matt Duchene anytime goal (+230) – ¼ unit
    Jason Robertson Over ½ assist (+105) – ¼ unit
    Dallas Stars TT Over 3.5 (-120) – 1 unit

Vancouver Canucks at Toronto Maple Leafs (-180, 5.5)

    7 p.m. ET

With icy conditions in Raleigh on Friday, the Canucks could not fly out after last night’s 2-0 loss at Carolina and arrived in Toronto on Saturday morning. With the Canucks being shut out, we have our systems play with a goal in the first ten minutes and the first period Over 1.5 goals. Kevin Lankinen gets the start in goal for the Canucks tonight in search of his first win in five tries against Toronto. The Leafs are going with rookie Dennis Hildeby. Hildeby has won three of his four starts, giving up just seven goals in his three victories. Even with the Canucks struggles of late, I am not interested in playing the Leafs at (-180) and have less than zero interest in investing in Vancouver.

I will target some Maple Leafs player props. David Kampf has three goals in four games against Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen while John Tavares has beaten Lankinen four times in four games.

NHL Predictions: John Tavares anytime goal (+190) – ¼ unit
David Kampf anytime goal (+650) – ¼ unit
    Vancouver Canucks/Toronto Maple Leafs goal 1st 10 minutes (-145) – 1.5 units
    Vancouver Canucks/Toronto Maple Leafs 1st period Over 1.5 goals (-125) – 1.5 units

Columbus Blue Jackets at St. Louis Blues (-205, 6)

    7 p.m. ET

The Blue Jackets and Blues have been two of my favorite teams to get involved with from a betting perspective. The Jackets are the league’s most profitable team when betting the full game Over. The Blues have games that have featured seven goals or more in five of the last seven (six of 7 have had six or more goals).

The Blues Cam Fowler has 11 goals in 27 games against the Jackets to lead all current Blues players in career goals against Columbus.

NHL Predictions: Cam Fowler anytime goal +750 – ¼ units
    Cam Fowler Over ½ assist (+120) – ¼ unit
    Dylan Holloway Over ½ assist (+186) – ¼ unit
Robert Thomas anytime goal (+225) – ¼ unit
    Zach Werenski Over ½ assist (-135) – 1 unit
Dmitri Voronkov anytime goal (+190)- ¼ unit
    Adam Fantilli Over ½ point (+116) – 1 unit
    Columbus Blue Jackets/St. Louis Blues Over 6 (-105) – 2 units

Tampa Bay Lightning at New Jersey Devils (-145, 6)

    7 p.m. ET

The Lightning have dominated this matchup of late, winning five straight and nine of ten over the Devils, including 4-0 and 8-5 wins this season. New Jersey has just one win in their past six games. Tampa is coming off wins over Carolina and Boston and has scored four or more goals in 17 of their 22 wins this season.

Victor Hedman has three goals in two games versus the Devils this season. Jake Guentzel has four goals in seven games against Devils starting goalie Jacob Markstrom.

NHL Predictions: Tampa Bay Lightning TT over 3.5 (+170) – 1 unit
Victor Hedman anytime goal (+600) – ¼ unit
    Jake Guentzel anytime goal – (+170) – ¼ unit
    Anthony Cirelli Over ½ assist (+195) – ¼ unit
Timo Meier anytime goal (+215) – ¼ unit

    Best of Rest:
Teuvo Teravainen anytime goal (+450) – ¼ unit
    Teuvo Teravainen Over ½ assist (+185) – ¼ unit
    Jackson LaCombe Over ½ point (+135) – ¼ unit
Mika Zibanejed anytime goal (+290) – ¼ unit
    Rangers/Vegas Goal 1st 10 minutes (-155) – 1.5 units
    Rangers/Vegas 1st Period Over 1.5 goals (-135) – 1.5 units
    Pavel Dorofeyev Over 2.5 SOG (-105) – 1 unit
Keegan Kolesar anytime goal (+550) – ¼ unit

    Matt Boldy Over 3.5 SOG (-105) – 1 unit
    Macklin Celebrini Over 2.5 SOG (-145) – 1 unit
Bo Horvat anytime goal (+250) – ¼ unit
    Jonathan Drouin Over ½ assist (-126) – ¼ unit
Filip Forsberg anytime goal (+170) – ¼ unit
